FAQ

Question # 1. What is Mission India Foundation?
Mission India Foundation, Inc USA is a registered not for profit.  It is also recognized by the IRS (Internal Revenue Services) as a tax-exempt organization (Federal Tax Identification # 26- 0725198) under section 501 (c) (3). Its Indian counterpart is Mission India Foundation (India).
Question # 2. What are the aims and objectives of MIF?

Some meaningful activities to bring about social changes towards better and bring more accountability and transparency in our democratic polity.

The objective of Mission India Foundation is to organize activities so as to embellish and widen the significance of democracy in Indian life.  For us democracy is not only political, but also a cultural phenomenon which should manifest itself not only on social but also on individual plane.
For an inclusive, integrated and inter-related perspective we focus on: CHEEP:  Culture, Health, Education, Environment, and Political.
Education: To nurture the potential of the individual as a social being.
Health:Healthy individual in a healthy society.
Environment: perception of environment in which society is an organic extension of nature in which inevitable conflict between nature and civilization is resolved to maintain the ecological balance.
Culture: As essential social behavior of human society consisting of cultural beings.
Political: To take up the issues related to governance, democracy, accountability, rights of citizens (not to forget ' RTI: Right to Information'),and electoral reforms.
With this perspective we propose to organize all kinds of activities especially keeping in view  the interests of those sections of society where special and particular attention is required
This is total perspective of our journey.  Naturally it will be taken up step by step in scope as well as area.
To begin with we will start awareness-activities in Haryana and Punjab and adjoining states. We will try to co-ordinate individuals, community and governmental initiative in our project of Promoting a growing transparent democracy in India.
Question # 2. How will you work to achieve this?

Various modalities of our work are being finalized. However, one strategy would be to establish various VECs ( Village Empowerment Centres) and CECs(Citizen's Empowerment Centres) at different locations.  VEC and CEC will be autonomous bodies, affliated to MIF, which will conduct their activities as per local needs.  Some developmental activaties with community support can be taken up and issues of the local interest be raised and addressed by these centres.By establishing such centres our main idea is to make a broader platform of responsible citizens.

Question # 3. Where do you propose to work in India?

Our initial area of focus is Haryana, Punjab and adjoining states. MIF has a pan- India outlook, but we have started our work in Haryana as we had resources available there.

Question # 4. Is it a political movement?

It is a political work. It is a social work. Politics drives the society, thus we can not shy away from it. But our political work will be a non-partisan: thus we will work to achieve what is good for our citizens.

Question # 5. How do you propose to achieve this?

Our current team comprises of: A Director and various advisers and team leaders.

We have a plan to appoint distinguished individuals to  head various portfolios, like Secular Affairs, Democracy Affairs, Finance, Education, Health, Environment, etc. This will be our Shadow Cabinet. This Cabinet will be stable, because it does not have the fear of being 'voted out', nor has it  the pressure of working for populism! Beside, we will launch projects to intervene in the system of education, health and environment, etc to awaken people about their duties and rights as citizens.

Question # 6. Do you propose to convert it into a political party?

Not really! We are not averse to participation in political process and elected governance. But given our ideological stands, it will be more worthwhile to push for political discipline and 'profits' for the common man from a vintage point of view and that is participating as an observer and not as a participant! It takes lives to  build up new parties and we are in  no mood for another regional party!

"Man did not enter into society to become worse than he was before, but to have those rights better secured. His natural rights are the foundation of all his civil rights.
Natural rights are those which appear to man in right of his existence (intellectual, mental).

Civil rights are those that appertain to man  in right of his being a member of society."
